Privacy Policy

This policy explains what FarmOffer collects, why we use it, when contact details become visible and how you can exercise your privacy rights.

Last updated 2 September 2026

FarmOffer is designed for agricultural trade across Africa. Local laws and non-waivable rights continue to apply wherever a user is located.

1. Who is responsible

FarmOffer operates the FarmOffer marketplace at farmoffer.africa. For privacy questions or requests, email info@farmoffer.africa.

2. Information we collect

  • Account details, including your name, email address, account identifier and sign-in information supplied through email authentication or Google.
  • Marketplace details, including phone or WhatsApp number, phone-verification status, country, region, seller profile, verification status and subscription status.
  • Trading activity, including listings, buyer requests, offers, counteroffers, acceptances, handover confirmation PIN status, completion status and notes you submit.
  • Support and safety information you send to us, including reports, complaints, questions and evidence relating to an account, listing or trade.
  • Account appeals, including your explanation, the reviewer’s decision and feedback, and email delivery status.
  • Product photos you upload, including photos held privately while their content is checked or reviewed.
  • Your account-blocking choices, so hidden users cannot start new negotiations with you and you can later reverse a block.
  • Essential technical information needed to operate and secure the service, such as authentication cookies, request logs and security events.

Please do not post identification documents, payment card details, passwords, health data or other sensitive information in listings, requests or negotiation notes.

3. How we use information

  • Create and secure accounts and keep marketplace activity connected to the correct user.
  • Publish listings and buyer requests and support offers, counteroffers and direct negotiation.
  • Reveal agreed contact details after an offer or supply response is accepted.
  • Review sellers, moderate content, investigate reports and prevent fraud or misuse.
  • Identify unusual activity for administrator review, such as repeated reports, rapid posting, contact changes during accepted trades or duplicate product photos.
  • Operate, troubleshoot and improve FarmOffer and communicate important service or policy updates.
  • Comply with applicable laws, lawful requests and consumer or data-protection obligations.

We process personal information only for stated purposes and on grounds permitted by applicable law, which may include your consent, providing the service you request, legal obligations and legitimate interests in operating a safe marketplace.

4. Public and matched-user information

Product listings, buyer requests and marketplace profile pages are visible to visitors. They may display your chosen trading name, general location, verification indicators, join month, active listings, completed-trade count and ratings or reviews from completed trades. Do not include private contact details in public descriptions or review comments.

FarmOffer hides phone and WhatsApp details until the relevant offer or response is accepted. Once revealed, the matched buyer and seller may use those details only to discuss and complete the agreed agricultural trade.

5. Service providers and international transfers

FarmOffer uses service providers to run the marketplace, including Supabase for authentication and optional SMS verification, Cloudflare for hosting and bot protection, and infrastructure providers supporting database storage, security and delivery. These providers may process information in countries outside your own.

When decision emails are enabled, an email delivery provider receives the recipient address and decision message to send the outcome of an account appeal.

Where information crosses borders, FarmOffer will use reasonable safeguards and follow applicable transfer requirements. As FarmOffer expands across Africa, this policy may be supplemented for countries with additional local requirements.

6. When information may be shared

  • With the buyer or seller you match with, as described above.
  • With service providers that process information for FarmOffer under appropriate instructions and safeguards.
  • With regulators, courts, law-enforcement bodies or other authorities when legally required or reasonably necessary to protect rights and safety.
  • As part of a lawful business reorganisation, provided appropriate privacy protections continue.

FarmOffer does not sell personal information and does not use it for third-party advertising at launch.

7. Retention and security

Active handover PINs are encrypted for buyer viewing and explicit release to the matched seller. Verification uses a keyed hash. Handover audit records contain the actor’s account ID, role, event and server time, never the PIN or its hash. Security throttling uses pseudonymised IP identifiers. PIN material is invalidated on replacement and cleared on completion or when expiry is observed.

We keep account and trading information while your account is active and for as long as reasonably needed for marketplace operation, safety, dispute records and legal obligations. When information is no longer needed, we will delete it, anonymise it or securely isolate it where deletion is not immediately possible.

We use managed authentication, access controls and other reasonable technical and organisational safeguards. No online service can promise absolute security, so protect your password and never share one-time codes.

8. Your rights and choices

Depending on applicable law, you may ask to access, correct, update, object to certain uses of, or delete your personal information. You may also withdraw consent where processing depends on consent. Some information may need to be retained for legal, security or dispute reasons.

Send requests to info@farmoffer.africa. We may need to verify that the request relates to your account. If Zimbabwe law applies, you may also contact the POTRAZ Data Protection Authority.

9. Cookies and account sessions

FarmOffer uses essential cookies to keep users signed in, protect sessions and maintain security. At launch, FarmOffer does not use third-party advertising cookies. If optional analytics or marketing cookies are introduced, we will update this policy and request consent where required.

10. Children

FarmOffer is for adults aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly create accounts for children or intentionally collect children’s personal information. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as FarmOffer adds features or enters more African markets. Material changes will be announced through the service or by another reasonable method. The date at the top shows the current version.
